In the early 60s, students Gudrun & Bernard begin a passionate affair. A few years later, stifled by the conformity of provincial Germany, they move to Berlin where both become intimately involved with radical politics and Gudrun is drawn to the Baader-Meinhof gang’s violent cause. A film that examines the troubled history of post-World War II Germany through a tale of a love won and lost through politics.
